Giving options — from donor-advised funds and stock to cryptocurrency and estate gifts — that help maximise your impact.
EVERYDAY GIVING
The simplest way to support Ekō's work is by giving online. We accept credit and debit cards, PayPal, bank transfer, Venmo, and more — so you can give however is most convenient for you.
Donate directly on our website at actions.eko.org/a/donate.
We’ve partnered with Every.org — a tax-exempt US 501(c)(3) public charity — to securely process these payment types. Every.org grants unrestricted funds to Ekō Education Fund on your behalf, and you’ll receive your tax receipt directly from them.

US donors: 100% of your donation via Every.org is tax-deductible to the extent permitted by US law. Please consult a tax professional to understand the exact benefits and any restrictions that apply to your gift.
We accept cheques made payable to Ekō and mailed to our address below. Due to associated banking fees, we are unable to accept non-USD cheques for amounts under $100 (USD equivalent). For international donations under $100, please give online.

A note on fees
Venmo charges a transaction fee of 1.99% + $0.49, with an additional 1.5% for non-US donors. For standard online donations, payment processors and bank fees average approximately 5%. Every.org does not charge any platform fee — it is itself a nonprofit, and your full gift reaches Ekō.
TAX-SMART GIVING
A Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) is one of the most tax-efficient ways to give. If you already have a DAF, directing a grant to Ekō is simple and fee-free through our partner Every.org.
We’ve partnered with Every.org to make DAF giving easy and secure. You have two options:
To get started, visit Ekō’s donation page on Every.org (every.org/eko) and choose your preferred option.
100% of your DAF donation goes to Ekō. There are no processing fees.
Tax note:If you donate via DAF, your Every.org receipt will not be tax-deductible — the deduction was already received when you contributed to your DAF. For all other payment methods, you’ll receive a tax-deductible receipt by email.

DIGITAL ASSETS
Donating appreciated cryptocurrency can be a tax-savvy alternative to selling — potentially avoiding capital gains tax while supporting the causes you care about. We accept crypto securely via Every.org.
Every.org handles the entire process — including liquidation and conversion to USD — so we can accept crypto without managing a wallet or exchange ourselves. You’ll receive a tax-deductible receipt directly from Every.org.
To donate, visit Ekō’s page on Every.org (every.org/eko), select your preferred cryptocurrency, and follow the on-screen instructions. You’ll be shown a QR code or wallet address to complete the transfer.
Every.org does not charge a platform fee. There is a 1% network fee for transferring your donation to Every.org’s crypto brokerage partner. Donations over $100,000 may qualify for slightly reduced fees. Every.org is donor-supported and may invite you to make a voluntary contribution to their work — this is entirely optional.
Please consult your CPA or tax advisor for guidance specific to your situation.

NON-CASH ASSETS
Donating appreciated stock is often more tax-efficient than selling and donating the proceeds. You may avoid capital gains tax entirely while claiming a deduction for the full fair-market value of the shares.
We’ve partnered with Every.org to accept stock donations securely and compliantly. Every.org handles the entire process — from receiving and liquidating the stock to issuing your tax-deductible receipt.
To donate stock to Ekō:
Important:Make sure the stock symbol and share quantity match your intended transfer exactly. Every.org will cross-reference what was pledged against what was received to ensure accurate, timely processing.
100% of your stock donation goes to Ekō — there are no processing fees. Once Every.org receives your transfer, it is typically processed within one business day. To help avoid delays, initiate the transfer promptly after submitting your donation form.

RETIREMENT ASSETS
Retirement plan assets are often among the most tax-efficient assets to give to charity — and among the most costly to leave to heirs. By naming Ekō as a full or partial beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), or other qualified plan, you can maximise what passes to your family while supporting our mission.
Contact your plan administrator and complete a beneficiary designation form to name Ekō Education Fund as a full or partial beneficiary. Assets directed to Ekō Education Fund will not be included in your taxable estate. After your lifetime, the designated portion passes to Ekō tax-free; any remaining balance goes to your other named heirs.
Note: An extra step may be required to designate a 401(k) — check with your plan administrator.
If you are 70½ or older, you can make a tax-free distribution of up to the IRS annual limit directly from your traditional or Roth IRA to Ekō’s 501(c)(3) entity, Ekō Education Fund. The distribution goes directly to Ekō and is excluded from your federal taxable income — making it one of the most efficient ways to give.
To make a QCD, contact your IRA custodian and ask them to send a cheque for a “qualified charitable distribution” to:
Organization: Ekō Education Fund
Address: 2443 Fillmore Street, #380-1279, San Francisco, CA 94115
Tax ID (EIN): 99-1336582
Please ask your custodian to include your name and mailing address on the cheque so we can acknowledge your gift. If you have questions about an IRA gift that has already been made, please contact us at giving@eko.org.
Please note:If you are still actively contributing to a retirement account, a charitable distribution could affect your taxable income. Please consult a qualified financial advisor before making a gift. If you are under 70½, you can still support Ekō through your IRA by withdrawing funds and donating the after-tax proceeds, or by designating Ekō as a beneficiary.
LEGACY GIVING
A bequest to Ekō in your will or trust is a powerful way to extend your values beyond your lifetime — protecting human rights, preserving ecosystems, and defending democracy for future generations.
